Biography

studies to be an apothecary; then studies pharmacy and medicine

1830 - 1832     lives in England, working in Scotland and at Kew botanical gardens

1834     appointed assistant to Chamisso at the royal herbarium in Berlin, and given a PhD

1836     promoted to second curator of the collection

1838     promoted to primary curator of the collection

Klotzsch's main work was in straightening things out and documenting them. Hence his two centuries of German fungi, and his work with the Sowerby collection.
