1877 studied natural history at the École normale superieur in Paris
1880 works there as preparator
1883 graduates, appointed auxiliary professor of natural history in Bordeaux
1884 - 1887 aide-naturalist at the Museum of Natural History in Paris
1901 appointed professor of botany at the Museum of Natural History in Paris
1920 appointed professor of organography, physiology and paleobotany
1932 retires
What a guy! He took fourteen years off from his job to write his three big books. A Dufour is consistently given as a co-author of the Nouvelle flore, which is hard for me to understand, as the only Dufour that I know of died in 1865. Maybe this is a "revival" of an earlier manual by Dufour, as with the institutionalized works of Gramberg and Michael.
Most of Costantin's scientific work was on the Deuteromycetes; the books of the 90's are popular field guides.
