Cantharellus cinnabarinus

Back to the Eleanor Yarrow Index

Edible but almost flavorless, the Cinnabar Chanterelle shares with "the" chanterelle (Cantharellus cibarius) its irregularly topped vase shape, and the branching veins on the underside of the cap. It differs in the dark bright pink color and smaller size (rarely more than an inch or two across).

Be sure to consult a field guide for aid in identification if you plan to eat this or any other mushroom.
