1905 graduates from the University of Tokyo with a degree in biochemistry, pharmacy, and Lichenology
1933 founds the Journal of Japanese Botany
Asahina worked on the lichens of Japan, with a special emphasis on their biochemistry and chemical testing as a way of identifying them.
