They are luscious, dangerous, elegant, comical, freakish, beautiful, hideous, delectably aromatic, stinky, boring, interesting, slimy, disconcerting, useful, delicious, irreplaceable, fleeting, seasonal, earthy and sublime. What are they? Why fungi, of course. The list could go on nearly forever, but who has the time?

Have you ever found yourself wondering about those strange lumps growing out of your front lawn, or out of the stump in back of the house? Do you ever wish you knew more about wild edibles? Do you occasionally fall asleep at night reading mycology texts? Perhaps you are a seasoned mycophile who wants to hook up with other like minded folk? The MHMA is a group full of people just like you.

This website is our invitation to you to make contact with and participate in what is brewing in your own backyard. Our hope is also that these pages will also provide a valuable resource for our membership and the the general public for many aspects of myco-related information and educational activities in the Mid Hudson region of New York and beyond. This is where you will find calendar information for forays, last minute changes to scheduled activities, recipes, advice, stories, photos mushroom alerts and whatever else we can think up.
