Until the issue of Alan E. Bessette, David W. Fischer & Arleen Rainis Bessette's (1997) Mushrooms of Northeastern North America, this was the only field guide that include keys for identifying what you found. It is still the only field guide that has discussions of the genera instead of just listing them.
