worked as a minister in Mecklenburg

1792     appointed to several administrative positions in the council of the church and in the administration of the city

Tode studied mostly small, strange-looking things, as you can see from the list of his genera and species.

Heinrich Julius Tode (1790 - 1791) Fungi Mecklenburgenses selecti (Selected Fungi from Mecklenburg)
One of the pioneering works in extending the Linnaean system to non-flowering plants. This work mostly addressed small, non-showy fungi, declaring 54 species of Sphaeria alone.
