1748     studies medicine in Tübingen

studies medicine in Strassburg

1756     earns MD

adjunct to the royal academy of science in St. Petersburg

1761     returns to Germany, becomes professor of natural history at the university in Calw (Württemberg)

1763     appointed inspector and director of the ducal garden and professor of natural history in Karlsruhe

1805     appointed to the electoral assembly

In St. Petersburg, Koelreuter conducted studies on the budding (grafting?) and crossing of plants. His 1777 book (it's actually very small, more like a pamphlet) claimed to have discovered the sexual organs for mushrooms, but he was wrong.
