Biography
Eduard studied natural history at Bern and Strassburg, studying the biology of the Phalloids under de Bary. He graduated from Strassburg in 1883, and began to get more interested in rusts.
In 1885, he was hired at Bern, and in 1893 was promoted to professor. In 1897, he succeeded his father, Ludwig Fischer, as director of the Bern Botanical Gardens. No word on their relationship to Alfred Fischer (1858-1913), who also edited a volume or two of the Deutschlands Kryptogamen-Flora.
