Biography

graduated from the Royal College of Science, worked unofficially at the British Museum

1907 - 1918     president of the British Mycological Society

1914     collecting expedition to Australia

Smith was a british expert on lichens, abstracting the technical literature on them for various British journals. Her own monograph of the British lichens was issued as a "2nd volume" of Crombie's book of 17 years prior. Dörfelt & Heklau also credit her with unacknowledged revisions and updatings of the second edition of the Crombie book, issued in 1918.

I also have one source where her death date is given as 1934
