Biography

Cotton studied at the Royal Horticultural Society Garden at Chiswick, England, and then at the Imperial College of Science in London. His first appointment was as Demonstrator in Botany and Lecturer at Manchester University, and he later came to work at Kew. In 1922 he was appointed curator (actually, they call it Keeper, over there) of the herbarium at Kew.
