COMA ON CABLE
by Dianna Smith

This year there are noteworthy new educational SCAPES shows about fungi that are airing on your non-commercial Public Access cable channels. The half-hour shows are narrated by entertaining and knowledgeable literati from Gary Lincoff and Tom Volk to COMA mentors. If you missed any of Talks, Walks or Forays of the past year or two, or just want to recharge your fungal memories, you will take pleasure in watching these edited shows. You can also see COMA's finds online at Dianna's website!

Here is a sample of some of the show titles that will be sporulating through our fiber-optic cable television wires:

'110 Essential Agarics' (in 2 half-hour parts) with David Rose
'Amanita Identification (NEMF 2003)' with Gary Lincoff
'Beautiful Boletes' with Mark DeBellis
'Fungi Extraordinari' with David Fisher
'Highlights of three Mushroom Walks of NEMF 2002'
'Mushroom Hunting 101' with Steve Rock
'Mycophagy with Damon' with Damon Brunette
'Sex in Fungi' with Tom Volk
'The First Morels of Spring' with COMA Members
'The Microscopic World of Ascomycetes' with Roz Lowen
'Three Seasons of Mushrooms' with Photographer Pam Kaminski
'Tips for Identifying Russulas and Lactarius Species' with Gary Lincoff
'Tricholomas' with Gary Lincoff
'Zen and the Art of Mushroom Identification' with Gary Lincoff

Become a producer (local sponsor) of SCAPES, and bring Dianna's fabulous mushroom programs to your local cable access channel!

If you do not live in one of the towns where SCAPES airs, consider being a SCAPES producer (show sponsor) so that your local community will be able to see these educational programs on a weekly basis. Sponsorship couldn't be easier and it is FREE! It merely involves signing a contract twice a year with your cable company accompanied by a 'proof of residency', such as a copy of your driver's license or phone bill. I provide you with the contract and a self-addressed stamped envelope to mail to the cable company. I am looking for people to act as a sponsor for SCAPES especially in the following areas: WAPPINGER'S FALLS PUBLIC ACCESS AREA (covers Dutchess, Ulster, Putnam and Orange Counties), and Rockland County. Please contact me to find out more by calling (914) 271-5209 or by e-mailing me at diannasmith@optonline.net.
